ONC Coach Italy Bound
02 Mar 2009
Story by Bob Elliott, Canadian Baseball Network
Tim Nelson, who has coached the Ottawa Nepean Canadians for the previous three seasons, will be taking a leave of absence from his job to take a coaching job in Verona, Italy from March 5-Sept. 30. Nelson was an Alan Hanock Bulldog and drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the seventh round of the 1998 draft - as the second Canadian selected that year.
He will be overseeing an organization in Verona that has a men's team, as well as a 21-and-under, 16U and 14U teams. Each team has a staff in place, but management wants a North American influence to run the organization and help to teach the coaches.
