Bisson and Team Canada to Join Canadian Hall of Fame
07 Feb 2012
Congratulations to Ottawa Nepean Canadian alumnus Chris Bisson and the entire 2011 Pan Am gold-winning Team Canada Senior National team who will be inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Mary’s, Ontario.
Just 22 and one year into his professional baseball career, Chris Bisson apparently still has something to learn what being a member of a Hall of Fame is all about. For starters, the San Diego Padres prospect from Orleans might want to ask his father, René, to name his favourite player when he was growing up in Cornwall in the 1970s. That’s important because René’s favourite was Rusty Staub, who will be in the same induction class as the younger Bisson.
The 2011 Team Canada team, managed by Hall-of-Famer Ernie Whitt, had a storybook year in taking their first-ever gold medal at the 2011 Pan Am Games, held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Canada now is ranked sixth in the world by the International Baseball Federation, its highest ever.
The team will be in esteemed company with the other 2012 inductees Rusty Staub, Doug Melvin, and Rheal Cormier. The ceremony will take place June 23, 2012 in St. Mary's.
